The conference is being held to mark the 20th anniversary of Bob Higham’s and the late Philip Barker's seminal work on the topic. The conference will look at work which has been done in the Britain and Ireland on timber castles in the past 20 years as well as reviewing older work with the soon to be published full excavation reports on South Mimms, Sulgrave and Danes Castle.
